At this time of year you might be starting to think about how you're going to treat your sweetheart on Valentine's Day, if only to keep in their good books! But the occasion also offers the chance to let your clients know just how important they are to you too; an opportunity many business owners fail to take advantage of.
In effect, we all 'court' our potential customers, showering them with our undivided attention, lunch meetings, catch up calls, presentations and so on. But, as in life, once the relationship is secured, the attention stops. Sound familiar?
The most successful relationships are those where continued appreciation is shown
and what better time than Valentine's Day to remind your clients how important they are to you?
There may well be occasions when you can naturally show your appreciation, but opportunities are often few and far between, and in truth it's a concept that many business owners either struggle with or just don't recognise the importance of.
A simple message will do the trick, such as
"we appreciate your continued business and love having you as a customer"
which retains the necessary professionalism but crucially manages to effectively connect with the customer. Personalising the message creates an even more authentic connection.
Never underestimate the power of an unexpected touch point when it comes to connecting with your customers.
After all, they are your most valued asset and any opportunity to develop your ongoing relationship with them, especially in a unique way, should always be taken.
What do you do to nurture your relationship with your clients? Have you ever done something extravagant or off-beat? I'd love to hear your comments below.
